Laser Studio available to hire on a 1/2 day or full day basis. Included in the time is full training to enable you to safely use the machine. The training will be based around your own work so no time is wasted. We have a range of materials available to buy Perspex, cardboard, paper etc or you can provide your own materials* See below for a full list of what can be cut. This service provides you with cheapest and most productive way of fabricating your work, there will be a technician on hand to help you and provide useful tips to help you maximise your time. We will pre-check your files to make sure they are suitable for cutting. The most common file type we accept is Adobe Illustrator, if your work is in another format please contact us and we can advise on how best to convert your files. The maximum size that can be cut is A1 (841mm x 594mm). Max thickness of material is about 12mm this can vary depending on material. Please call to discuss your requirements.

*Your own materials will need to be pre-approved as some materials can't be cut.

1/2 Day (4 hours) £100.00

Materials that can be laser cut or engraved:-

  • ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
  • Acrylic (also known as Plexiglas
  • Lucite
  • Deralin (POM, acetal)
  • Kapton tape (Polyimide)
  • Mylar (polyester)
  • Nylon — melts badly
  • PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
  • Polyethylene (PE) — melts badly
  • Polypropylene (PP) — melts somewhat
  • Styrene
  • Two tone acrylic — top color different than core material, usually for custom instrumentation panels
  • Depron foam — often used for RC planes.
  • EPM
  • Gator foam — foam core gets burned and eaten away compared to the top and bottom hard shell.
  • Cloths (leather, suede, felt, hemp, cotton)
  • Magnetic sheets
  • Papers
  • Rubbers (neoprene)
  • Teflon (PTFE, Polytetrafluoroethylene)
  • Woods (MDF, balsa, birch, poplar, red oak, cherry, holly, etc.)

We do not or cannot laser cut the following materials:

  • Metals — We cannot cut through any metals.
  • We can mark metal it engraves black
  • Polycarbonate (PC, Lexan)
  • Any material containing chlorine
  • PVC (Cintra) — contains chlorine
  • Vinyl — contains chlorine
  • Glass — we can engrave glass, but we cannot cut it.
  • Fiberglass
  • Printed circuit board (FR4 and other material types)
  • Carbon fiber
